The peninsula of West Cornwall is renowned for its beautiful wild and rugged scenery. The area is an area of outstanding natural beauty and was awarded world heritage status in 2006. With its wonderful golden sandy beaches, fantastic wildlife, numerous ancient sites and thriving arts community this is a wonderful place to discover the real Cornwall.
Chy-an-Gof is situated at Pendeen on the north Cornwall coast an area steeped in tin mining history. It stands in an area of outstanding natural beauty and has recently been awarded world heritage status. The Geevor tin mine is literally on the doorstep as are the old workings at Levant and Botallack and makes this a wonderful place from which to explore the many aspects of this national heritage. The coastal paths are a great asset to the area and provide excellent opportunities for walking, climbing, mountain biking or horse-riding.
The local beach at Portherras is a dog friendly beach. The village of Pendeen offers popular restaurants such as the Meadery (a medieval style family restaurant) three pubs one of which has won the cambra pub of the year award, a shop, post office, fish and chip shop and a pottery/gallery all of these amenities are within easy walking distance of Chy-an-Gof.
The small town of St. Just is 3 miles away which has attractions such as Cape Cornwall, there is also a golf and country club with a swimming pool, gym, sauna and restaurant. There are attractive galleries and pubs. Lands End is situated approximately 10 miles to the west with its fantastic scenery. The Lands End aerodrome operates scenic flights over the countryside and day trips to the spectacular Isles of Scilly.
The popular town of St. Ives with its many galleries and museums - the Tate and the Barbara Hepworth to name but two - is 10 miles to the north. St Ives also offers some of the best beaches in the area.
The Market town of Penzance is 6 miles away and gives ample opportunity for shopping or taking in the sights particularly St. Michaels Mount. The busy fishing port of Newlyn and picturesque harbour at Mousehole are all within easy reach.
The popular open air Minack Theatre is nearby and the numerous golden sandy beaches which are really popular with surfers and families alike really make this a holiday spot for all.
